The 10 nevers

I finalized the next entry, although it was difficult to talk about. To share the daily experiences of the people

I have the privilege of seeing everyday in the center I had

to assimilate myself into the situation.  It is a great responsibility to speak of the lives of others without being frivolous or tactless, but I think they are stories they have always deserved to be told despite their difficulty. I deeply admire and am enormously proud of the group of people who attend the center every day. They always greet you with a smile and kind words, without friction, without tension, as if they were performing the most pleasant tasks imaginable, their story will continue later…

Today I want to share with you these 10 “never-do’s” posted on the board in the entrance that serve as brief guide of things that should not be done:

1. Never argue with the patient, agree with them
2. Never try to reason with a patient
3. Never be ashamed to praise a patient
4. Never try to give lessons
5. Never ask patients to remember things and recall the facts
6. Never say “I told you,” repeat yourself many times
7. Never say “you can” say “do what you can.”
8. Never push yourself or orders, instead, ask or teach.
9. Do not condescend, give encouragement or ask questions
10. Never force, encourage

YOU WORKED SO HARD AND IT WAS SO REWARDING AT THE SAME TIME
ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU LIVED IN THE FIRST PERSON
